Undefeated (44-0) Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramírez Challenges for WBA Light Heavyweight World Title vs․ Dmitry Bivol With Bitcoin․com Backing – Press release Bitcoin News

Gilberto ‘Zurdo de Oro’ (Golden Southpaw) Ramírez, with Bitcoin.com in his corner, has a shot at the World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight title as he faces Dmitry Bivol, also undefeated. In what is being hailed as the biggest fight of the year, Ramirez vs Bivol is the main event of a DAZN card that will be aired live from Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on November 5.

Gilberto Ramírez, the 31-year-old former WBO super middleweight champion, with five title defenses at 168 pounds in his impressive 43-0 career, has knocked out his last five opponents.

Gilberto will square off against current world champion Dmitry Bivol, also 31 years old. The Kyrgyz-born Russian with a 19-0 record, is riding high after pulling off a title defense against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in May, in what was considered a massive upset.

Bookmakers have made Bivol a big favorite, giving Ramirez only a 21% of winning, a prediction that Gilberto brushes off. “The odds mean nothing. I’ve prepared for this fight for years, and I know what I’m capable of. I’ve also called for this fight for years and even sent a contract last year. But this time he has nowhere to run or hide. Come November 5th, I will be the new Champion of the light heavyweight division,” he said.

Bitcoin.com has proudly sponsored Gilberto’s journey to the top of the light heavyweight division. In the lead up to his win against Yunieski Gonzalez in December, the global crypto company set Zurdo up with a Bitcoin.com Wallet where he could buy, sell, and securely hold cryptocurrencies.

Since then, Gilberto has gone further down the crypto rabbit hole. “Bitcoin empowers everyday people to take control of their money,” he said. “With the Bitcoin.com Wallet, I can send and receive crypto globally in seconds with practically zero fees. I can also invest in a huge range of cryptos, all without having to even give my ID. That’s economic freedom, and I love it.”

In Gilberto’s native Mexico, where a record $51.6 billion in remittances were sent in 2021 (accounting for 4% of the country’s GDP), cryptocurrencies have huge potential to reduce the associated fees. According to a June 2022 report from the World Bank, remittance fees currently average 6% of the amount sent.

Bitcoin.com CEO Dennis Jarvis commented, “It’s an honor to support Gilberto on his journey. We also take seriously the chance to reach Gilberto’s passionate supporters with tools and information that…
