In recent days, speculation has focused on several prominent candidates, but one figure the late Len Sassaman has gained particular attention.
Sassaman, an influential cryptographer who passed away in 2011, was once considered by many to be a strong candidate for Nakamoto.
His involvement in cryptography and privacy technologies, along with his work on anonymizing networks, made him an intriguing possibility.
However, that speculation took a hit after Sassaman’s wife, Meredith L Patterson, publicly stated that he was not Satoshi and that the documentary producers had not approached her for comment.
Patterson’s statement not only cast doubt on Sassaman’s candidacy but also added a unique twist to the ongoing mystery.
She openly reflected on how simply providing the truth could influence the narrative, acknowledging the ripple effect her words might have on the ongoing discussions.
Other contenders Adam Back, Nick Szabo and the rest
Sassaman isn’t the only name at the center of speculation. Another prominent figure, Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream and an early BTC developer, has also found himself linked to Nakamoto’s identity.
Businessman and Bitcoin proponent Samson Mow suggested Back could be revealed as Nakamoto in the upcoming documentary.
However, Back quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to refute the claim, calling Mow’s suggestion a joke and asserting that he does not know who Satoshi is.
Nick Szabo, a pioneer of smart contracts and long-rumored to be Nakamoto, has also resurfaced in the conversation.
His work on ‘Bit Gold’ a precursor to Bitcoin and the linguistic similarities between his writings and those of Nakamoto have kept him in the spotlight for years.
Like Back, Szabo has denied being Satoshi, but his name continues to circulate as a possible candidate.
