Shiba Inu’s (SHIB) lead developer Shytoshi Kusama is providing a rough timeline for the completion of its layer-2 project’s beta-testing phase.
Speaking through a prominent SHIB influencer, Kusama says that Shibarium’s testnet, called “Puppynet,” could be up and running for about two months but adds that the testing period could extend up to July of this year.
The lead Shiba Inu developer also says that during this period, the team will seek out and correct flaws in the system.
“LucieSHIB:
Q: How long will beta take?
Shytoshi Kusama:
Depends. We will be creating systems and bug hunting. Guess two months (it can be much longer! four months).”
Shibarium is the Shiba Inu’s ecosystem layer-2 protocol built on top of Ethereum (ETH), similar to Polygon (MATIC).
Last week, SHIB officially released Shibarium’s beta version, allowing beta testers to explore the testnet.
Following the launch of Puppynet, Kusama warned that coins in Shibarium’s beta form are not real and said that users should not spend their SHIB trying to accumulate these tokens.
Once the beta test is complete, Shibarium will generate a new ecosystem of custom coins that can be traded using Bone ShibaSwap (BONE) to pay for gas fees.
At time of writing, SHIB is trading for $0.000011, a fractional increase on the day.
